Empower your preteens with yoga to develop self-awareness and a whole new level of confidence by tapping into tools they may not have even known they had. They’ll discover a balance between strength and flexibility, energy and calmness, determination and compassion. The inner and outer focus required will also enable them to practice some independent care and value for themselves to make good choices when others are not around to do it for them.
WITH Alison Ledbetter $50
Come and learn the practice of sitting silently and connecting with your inner essence. Meditation is a learned skill just like learning to play an instrument. This class will teach you four different techniques: Breath Work, Mindfulness, One Pointedness, and the use of Positive Affirmations, to gently guide your consciousness away from the constant mind chatter and worry (AKA the Monkey Mind) towards the peaceful oasis of your inner energy. We will practice the above skills, do a guided meditation, discuss the research, and review tools for you to develop your daily practice. Handouts will be provided.
-When we connect to our core, we are genuinely self assured, self-aware, peaceful and can function with confidence.
-Stress Reduction! Meditation literally decreases the stress hormone, cortisol, by 28%. A good night sleep only decreases the hormone by 2%.
-It increases your ability to focus and pay attention exponentially.
-MRI studies have conclusive evidence that Meditation changes the brain in regions engaged in higher brain functioning. (We will discuss this in class.)
This class will not have any yoga instruction but is complimentary to the practice and a wonderful skill to utilize when yoga is not available.
Learning meditation may be a perfect fit for a family member or friend that does not do yoga. Please contact Alison for more questions. Alison Ledbetter 1-615-830-1231

FREE & Meeting every 4th Friday of the month from 10:45-11:45am.
Half Moon will be hosting a Book Club for our community beginning January 2018! We will be meeting on the 4th Friday of each month at 10:45am. As you know, yoga is a mind/body/spiritual practice and often our teachers refer to books that provide them with guidance and inspiration. Since many of you have expressed an interest in going further in your practice through exploring and discussing some of these great books. Some of our first selections will be about finding your dharma, having an attitude of abundance, using yoga’s ethical principles in your daily life, and how to be more present in the moment. Since it will be your book club, we hope you will participate in recommending choices in the future.
The first book we have selected is BRINGING YOUR YOGA TO LIFE: THE EVERYDAY PRACTICE OF ENLIGHTENED LIVING by Donna Farhi. Internationally renowned and bestselling author Donna Farhi moves yoga practice beyond the mat into our everyday lives, restoring the tradition’s intended function as a complete, practical philosophy for daily living. Expanding upon the teachings of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, the core text of the yoga tradition. Donna describes yoga’s transformational power as a complete life practice, far beyond it’s common reduction to mere exercise or stress management. This is the philosophy of yoga as a path to a deeper awareness of self. Drawing upon her years of teaching with students, farhi guides readers through all the pitfalls and promises of navigating a spiritual practice.

WITH Robbie Michelle Short $30
Robbie introduced you to the magical influence of mantra & movement and you asked for another but this time we will work with a different mantra. This time it will be Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya.
Yoga should be mindful motion or what we like to call contemplative, compassionate action. A mantra is a tool of particular words or phrases that can help one conquer a restless mind. Mantras can be used for focused meditation and have been used for therapeutic benefits and healing. Thoughts and words are based in energy so repeating mantras can transmute energy and help us transcend emotions as well as the senses that want to keep us entangled in our affairs within the world. In this workshop we will work with up to 2 mantras and use them both within our guided movement of postures as well as utilize within formal meditation. This combination will give you the experience of the magic of mantra & movement! Robbie has begun this new series that will be offered every 2-3 months with the next one happening 2/4/18 and each one will focus on new mantras.
WITH Seth Ritter $15
Seth is back in 2018 with his monthly Sound meditations! This event has been a unique staple for our studio and one which has created a movement across Nashville. Seth has an entire array of beautiful Hilmalayan Singing Bowls that range in a variety of sizes and tones. Each has their own healing frequency within this form of sound therapy. He immerses you within the sound and it can have many effects on the mind/body. If you chose to sit more formally, it has a very grounding quality and if you chose to lie down in comfort as most do, it allows for a transcendence type of experience. Whether you are an experienced meditator or not, sound has a way of taking you into that meditative space fairly quickly.
